About LIPeSQ

The Interdisciplinary Laboratory of Social and Qualitative Research (LIPeSQ) is located in Manaus, the largest city in the Amazon region of Brazil. LIPeSQ is a research group that focuses on social and qualitative research related to health, with a particular emphasis on neglected tropical diseases. Our team has specialized expertise in conducting research on diseases such as malaria, HIV, tuberculosis, and snakebite envenomation. Additionally, we explore the social and cultural factors that influence health outcomes, addressing a diverse range of health challenges prevalent in the Amazon region. Our commitment lies in contributing comprehensive insights by integrating social and qualitative research methods to understand and mitigate the impact of these diseases on the local communities.

Current Location

The Fundação de Medicina Tropical Dr. Heitor Vieira Dourado (FMT-HVD) is a non-profit organization based in Brazilian Amazon that focuses on improving the health and well-being of individuals and communities affected by tropical diseases. The organization aims to achieve its objectives by promoting scientific research, conducting clinical trials, providing medical care, and disseminating knowledge about tropical diseases to the population.
